My name is Elizabeth. I'm a 39 and currently reside in NE IL with a 9½-year-old classic tri-color papillon named Gizmo, a 4½-year-old white and black Phalène (drop-earned Papillon) named Dane, 2 cockatiels, and a male betta. I adopted Gizmo and Dane from PapAdopters & Placement Service, a non-profit, 501(c)(3) national breed rescue group dedicated to rescuing and re-homing unwanted Papillons and Phalénes, several months after losing my 3rd German Shepherd, Lexi, a white shepherd, to Hemangiosarcoma (HSA). (Lexi had just turned 9 when she had to be put down.) Gizmo and Dane are my first toy dogs. I'm a strong advocate of adoption and have adopted from shelters in the past. I've also engaged in private rescue. This is the first time I've adopted from a rescue group.
