    Hi Pitlove,
I am just curious why Victors does not get a better rating. I think it is an excellent food and they are very upfront with their ingredient list and nutritional analyses. I am currently feeding the NutroPro and 1 year old Irish Wolfhound/GSD is thriving. Thanks.

Hi Josh, Origen Large Breed Puppy is on the Editor’s Choice list for large breeds. So Ca/Ph levels should be good. However, it is a very expensive food and from what I have read on some other sites, many pups find this food too rich and have tummy troubles. You can try it and see how your puppy does. But there are a number of other foods out there that are less expensive and still very good. Purina ProPlan and Fromms are both good. And mixing some canned to keep him eating will help him transition.

    Hi Nadine and Pitlove,
I have Keeva on PurinaProplan large breed now too. Her poop is perfect and she loves it. I asked another friend with Irish Wolfhounds had also recommended Purina so despite some of my concerns, I too am planning on keeping her on Purina. Thanks for all the info.

Hi Pitlove, I emailed but then just called Holistic Select. They still have as fed Ca at 2.21% and Ph at 1.25%. Kcal/kg is 3529. If I have understood the info the ratio is on the high end and the as fed Ca is maybe too high? Thanks for your input. I want to give my new baby the best chance I can for her growth!

Hello, I have a 12 week old Irish Wolfhound/German Shepherd mix. She was on Taste of the Wild Puppy food but we were recommended to switch to Holistic Select Puppy Food for Large and Giant breed dogs. I am concerned after reading these posts that the calcium is too high. I slowly switched her from the TOTW. Her stools are soft but formed. I was thinking I should switch to a lower calcium kibble but after reading these threads, I am wondering if I should stay where I am for a bit? She is growing fast, already 27 pounds. I want to be sure we are using a food that will keep her bones as healthy as possible. I would appreciate any suggestions! Thank you everyone.
