MemberI was having too many problems with the foods I was trying. People kept recommending Purina Pro Plan. I was really against even giving it a shot because over the years Purina has always had low quality foods. People kept telling me that the Pro Plan line was different. Well, I wish I would have tried it sooner. I made the switch to the chicken shredded formula and about two weeks in my issues started to clear up. We are now three bags in and all issues are resolved. I am a believer. Thank you pitlove!

MemberThank you so much @pitlove. I am struggling through whip worm currently. I thought it was the food causing the problem but instead one of the dogs had been diagnosed for this but not treated. I have purchased the Canidae Large Breed All Life Stages. As soon as we are off of the chicken and rice and medication, I will give it a try and let you know my results. Thank you so much for your dedication to this running conversation!

MemberHi Pitlove,
As I understood from him yesterday, if I ask him for the Max, he is going to give me the AAPCO max number. How do I phrase it so he knows which ‘max’ I need? 🙂
He did tell me that he would be more than happy to talk to you directly if that would help eliminate some of the confusion. I know you are busy enough with everything so I am happy to continue being the middle man, but if you prefer, the number is 800-398-1600 and their hours are M-F 9am- 4pm PST.

MemberHi Pitlove,
I called and talked to the guy at Canidae again on the numbers that he gave me. He is confused and says that the numbers he provided are those that match their lab tested results for analysis on specific batches of food. He said the only other numbers that they would have are the minimum and maximum per the AAPCO requirements. Please let me know what would one of these numbers would look like that you would be expecting. So I can better discuss this with him and get what we are needing.

MemberHi Pitlove,
Did you received the email that I sent with the details on the Canidae foods? I could not tell if it was successful or not.
Thank you so much for your help with this!August 22, 2017 at 6:52 pm in reply to: Large and Giant Breed Puppy Nutrition #103762 Report Abuse Edit Post VisibilityKim B
MemberI am still trying to figure out how to do the calculation on the food. I am looking at Canidae. I have fed their food in the past and now they have grain free options.
Life Stages Dry Dog Food for Puppies, Adults & Seniors
Here is a link to see a screen shot of the ingredients, etc so how do I turn this information into the equation to confirm if it is a well balanced food for a giant breed?
Thank you for your help with this!

MemberWhat do you think about the Canidae Under the Sun Grain Free line? I have a 2 year old and a 1 year old Great Dane. They are 90 and 130 lbs respectively. The 2 year old needs to add about 5 lbs and the 1 year old needs to lose about 10. I really like the company and I just recently learned that they are planning to start growing all of their own fruits and vegetables to maintain better control.
I really appreciate your input regarding the nutritional value of this new line.
