My German shepherds eat Fromm Four Star Surf and Turf, but Iā€™m thinking about changing to Origen or Wellness Core. Check on breeders websites and blogs to see what they like, then see what Sagman has to say on his reviews.

I just read a lot of responses in the regular forum under Diet and Health, try looking there.

I used to bathe my german shepherd anywhere from 5 to 10 days, depending on itchiness. I used a sulfur shampoo for dogs, but head & shoulders dry scalp worked also. Back then, there was a spray called Gentocin that really helped his hot spots and feet. I think there is a new, better product. When his skin began to ooze and get pink (not a full on hot spot) one spray and in 20 minutes it calmed down.
I also did a skin test for allergies, I think it helped but not cheap. At least it gave me a tool for label reading!

Yes, Royal Canin, which is not my first choice! The weight is easyā€“my husband is limiting treats to one a day instead of over ten! He finally gets it. She needs to weigh around 27 lbs, is 32 now.

Just checked the Chewy link, Wellness looks perfect! Thank you so much!

Google ā€œBARFā€ diet. You can buy frozen chicken legs and thighs, check around to see if you can find a local source for beef, lamb organ meats. If you buy a few lbs at a time many butchers will order for you, then you can package in small quantities for freezing. For a raw diet, you donā€™t have to make anything, you just thaw a couple of dayā€™s worth. A little planning and it gets easier. Ready made raw diets get expensive. A little research will go a long way!
