Has anyone used this product? I have had my cockers on this for a year for allergies and on grain free food. At this point, they ended up on allergy meds and I have change food 3 times in a year. I do not want to keep them on these meds and I am beginning to doubt these supplements as well.
theBCnutMemberNuVet Plus has some nice antioxidants in it, but it won’t cure allergies. Three food changes a year is really not many. I change my dogs’ kibble weekly and they get something different added to their food every day. Maybe get the ingredient lists from all three foods you have tried so far and see if you can determine what ingredients they have in common, and try to find a food that doesn’t have any of those ingredients.
As an example, my dog is allergic to chicken, turkey, tomato, flax, and all grains. It has taken me 3 years to figure all of that out, and I may still find that he reacts to other things as well.
Kathy BMemberThank you for the reply. I will continue on the on the supplement and take your advice on the research of each of the dog food products. If you switch kibble that often do you not have to be concerned about digestive upsets? Seems to be where I am with Merrick at this time. My male is okay with it ,but my little girl cannot have a firm bm without some pumpkin and rice. And Rice is not something I want to do long term with allergies.
theBCnutMemberI actually started switching because I had a dog that got an upset stomach extremely easily and I had read about rotational feeding being the answer to that. By feeding one food long term, we condition our dogs’ bodies to not be able to handle change. The first few times I switched foods, I did it very slowly, over the span of a month each time. But after about three switches, I noticed that she was adapting quicker, so I went to switching over a span of two weeks, and then one week. Now, when I run out of food, I switch to the next bag, no transition at all. And when she gets in the trash or finds something she shouldn’t have, she never gets an upset stomach anymore. And she can enjoy all different kinds of food every day. She’ll be 13 in a few days and is very active and healthy. I wouldn’t have said the same thing three years ago before I started working on her diet. Eating variety is the healthiest way to eat for dogs as well as humans.
Kathy BMemberThank you again… after your last comment, began to mix in some other 5 star food on the list . At this point, have omitted the rice and are still adding some pumpkin and have seen improvement since Sunday! Had me worried there for a few weeks but I think the Merrick Duck was too much for her system.
Hope your little horse turns gets back on his feed for you !theBCnutMemberThanks, he already seems back to normal. He’s such a routine follower, that any deviation scares me. I really can tell you where he will be at any given time, because his routine is so predictable.
I’m glad you are seeing improvements already. Don’t be surprised if you see backsliding, just pay attention to when you start a new food in relation to how she is reacting. Some things that my dog can’t handle take a few days to cause symptoms, while others only take hours, so I keep a calendar of what I feed each day and any symptoms I see.
kevin aMemberI have an English Bulldog named Brutus. If he could speak I imagine he would say, ” Hey can I have another one?” My dog loves his daily vitamin so much that if I forget to deliver it, he will walk over and sit at the counter until I produce it. He loves the taste and his coat is awesome looking. English bulldogs are supposedly known as a “vets best friend”, because of their known health issues. I believe that NuVet Plus has helped to keep my dog out of the vet’s office. More importantly, Brutus loves the vitamin and considers it a treat. I would recommend the product and would say that it has become one of my dog’s best friends. It will remain a constant in his diet!
david lMemberNuvet vitamins are miracle pills for dogs! My Rottweiler was feeling his age at 8 years old. Looking slow and sluggish. Started him on a regiment of Nuvet vitamins and it was a different dog in a short time. Highly recommend! http://bit.ly/1ot7QmP
kevin aMemberI have been so happy with NuVet Plus.
Don PMemberMy breeder required us to have our Labrodor on NuVet Plus Wafers for her 1st year in order for her health guarantee to be valid. We fed our lab puppy Fromm Large Breed Gold puppy food and gave her a wafer per the directions. She is beautifuL, great coat, big brown eyes and no skin problems at all. I have been happy with our food and NuVet Plus Supplements.
anonymouslyMemberRead the comments, sometimes we learn something.
http://skeptvet.com/Blog/?s=nuvetCannoliMemberI agree with anonymously. I don’t trust supplement companies that state their supplements are miracle wonder pills that can prevent a plethora of ailments.
These are the questions I ask myself when I rarely use supplements, hence I would ask the same questions to companies who make supplements for my dog.
1) Has the product triggered any health warnings or sanctions
Searching for a product or its maker on the FDA’s website will unearth any safety advisories or sanctions issued against them. The agency also maintains a list of all recent recalls and market withdrawals. I know this is tough but if this company makes human supplements it might be good to know if they ever had any human supplements recalled.2) Has the product been tested by independent labs?
A reputable supplement company must have DNA testing to prove that all of there ingredients actually are what they state it has.
3)Is the product too good to be true?
For example they write “Nuvet contains those ingredients and can help strengthen the immune system to help prevent the development of allergies.” There is no supplement that can help this.
or this “Nuvet plus contains those ingredients and can help strengthen the immune system to help keep the body in balance, and less likely to develop the medical conditions that can lead to seizures.” more none sense.
4) Do I really need supplements? If so, am I taking the right amount?
a supplement may have considerably higher quantities of a vitamin or mineral than it says on the bottle. Because certain vitamins degrade over time, manufacturers often provide more than the labeled quantities, to ensure there is still the labeled amount at the expiration date
You should really be careful with giving your dog supplements. There are too many snake oil salesmen in this unregulated industry
Josie FMemberI have to disagree with “anonymous”. And here’s why- We’ve been using Nuvet Plus with our dog for almost 3 years. When we got him, he was a rescue who had been sitting in a box on the side of the road for who knows how long. Someone found him and his sister, and brought them to a vet. They were covered with fleas, had demoxdex, severe allergies and a bunch of other health issues. We fell in love with him- hair loss, red spots and all and decided we would do everything we could to get him better. We tried EVERYTHING to get the demodex to clear up, and it was awful for him (And us!) I was devastated.
I searched around constantly for a cure, and then ran into an old friend of mine who worked for a holistic vet, and she said to try NuVet. I did my own research, and read some of the nuvet reviews and saw a lot of other people who’s dogs had issues with hair loss and allergies- and it HELPED, and so I figured it was worth a shot. If it didn’t work, I’d get my money back.
Well- it didn’t hurt, it actually cleared his issues up. We made no other changes, stopped the (like Acid!) baths for the demodex, stopped the antibiotics (we felt he was on them too long anyways) and made sure to watch closely what was in his food. And within 2 months, his fur was regrowing. It took about 6 months to clear up fully. I’ve kept him on it ever since, and he’s 3 now, and hasn’t had a single issue with his coat or skin. He’s shiny, happy and healthy.
I don’t see how people say it’s snake oil- it’s easy to see what each ingredient does, and doing your own research will show you that some people have seen those things help with certain ailments in their pets. I take vitamins for myself, my husband and children take them as well, and have seen them work consistently, along with the right nutrition, so why wouldn’t I do that for my dog too? I know that not every supplement or even every medicine (as we proved in the past) is going to work with every animal but this one worked for my dog and I’m grateful. I’d recommend at least trying nuvet to any pet owner who is seeing similar issues.
BeccaParticipantI just started my two dogs on Nuvet plus. I have to block out the science naysayers. Food is medicine when you find the right combos. I will let you know the difference. I have phone dog with multiple issue, loss of fur, losing weight beside being ravenously hungry , even though the vet said he has pancreatitis, he has a 5 cm tumor on his liver, with normal liver function. Going for more testing next week, so far a lot of money is going out with little answers. My other dog has dry itchy skin, and torn ccl. Just today seems like the other leg is affected, he trying to hobble on the bad leg. They are on a raw and home cooked diet. I hear a lot of good things about Nuvet plus, so I’ll post soon my thoughts
Josie FMemberWould love to hear how it works for your puppies Becca. Wishing you the best for them. I have heard about Nuvet helping for tumors, but have not had to use it for that. I will keep your pup in my prayers!
Marie PMemberThe NuVet Plus helps to rebuild the immune system and fight allergens. Normally with a good quality food and the NuVET Plus you can fight off many allergens. Take a look at your environment too. Sometimes environmental issues will come up and it is a new allergen hitting your pets. See here as NuVET and Zyrtec are highly recommended by many vets for environmental issues – Many VETs offer this Dosage of Zyrtec along with the Natural NuVET supplement http://bulldogvitamins.blogspot.com/2015/07/does-your-dog-have-watery-eyes-itchy.html
Marie PMemberBecca mentioned the NuJOINT plus .. Also a great product.. The nice thing about this Joint supplement is it’s NATURAL, made in the USA and will help in about 2-3 weeks.. they give you a 60 day money back guarantee. My pets are on the NuJOINT DS and doing amazing , Learn more here .. Blue bottle NUJOINT DS http://www.nuvet.com/81098 NOT sold in stores , holistic
BeccaParticipantWell update on my dog on nuvet plus, Come to find out my dog load has liver cancer and is on multiple herbs, which has done wonders for him , when the conventional vet said there’s just nothing we can do for him, the holistic vet has extended his life a few months so far. I do have my other dog on the duvet plus and there are benefits to it for sure, his allergies are drastically cut down and his fur is softer than its ever been, it’s a good product
BeccaParticipantI’m am going to try the joint plus as my dog , had lyme hoping to help with that
BeccaParticipantThat’s was my dog koda with liver cancer not load. Phone changes my words, welcome prayers for him. Thank you!
David LMemberSince hearing about NuVet Labs products, we started our 7 year old Aussie and my son’s 3 year old lab on the NuVet Plus about 3 months ago. Our Aussie was a very high stress dog that looked like her eyes were constantly bugging out of her head from fear. She was hyper vigilant, obsessive and had stress incontinence issues. I’ve had her to doggie therapists, on medication and various other modalities without success. Within 2 weeks of starting NuVet Plus she was a different dog. No more hyper vigilance, obsessions or eyes bugging out of head! She is calm, happy and playful. You have no idea how stressful it was living with a dog who seemed so stressed all the time.
We started my son’s 3 year old lab on them as well. He had a history of chronic ear infections, goopy eyes and dusty flaky skin. In 2 weeks his ears were completely clear and his eyes were almost 90% improved! His coat is much improved as well.crazy4catsParticipantI’m glad that supplement is working for your dog, but all the extra minerals and vitamins in addition to an already balanced diet would concern me. Have you had a urinalysis done since starting it?
Mark AMemberI first heard of NuVet when I thought my 13 year old long-haired Chihuahua was blind. She fell into our swimming pool. Luckily, I was right there to pull her out. My first thought, she’s blind. She hates the water. The vet told me that she had cataracts. I researched “cataracts in dogs” on the internet. I found this website and read the raving reviews here and other reviews site like:
https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.nuvet.com
http://www.viewpoints.com/NuVet-Plus-Canine-Supplements-reviewsAfter that I bought the first bottle. A couple of weeks later, I took my dog to the specialist and he couldn’t find any cataracts. Now, my dog’s vision is better than ever, and her coat is shiny and fluffy. I just signed up for automatic refills.
Marie PMemberNuVet Labs really does have an excellent product line. We have used it for a little over 9 years now. If you want to learn more about NuVET see a few articles;
1. NuVET Plus help to balance yeast bacteria, See here

http://bulldogvitamins.blogspot.com/2015/07/does-your-dog-have-watery-eyes-itchy.htmlTony BMemberI am absolutely abhorred by Nuvet. For one I am so figusted by their lack of ethics. Would you look at all these paid/ employee / repeated reviews. Their blog reputation is a sham. The whole company is. They use shark cartilidge which is 100% bullspit!!!! It has zero benefits, nothing has been proven, all claims are falsities and misconceptions. Shark’s are a major part of our oceans ecosystems and are outrageously overfished. Without them we face grave threats to the planet that supports us. We need to support our planet and our life. DO NOT USE OR SUPPORT THIS PRODUCT NUBET IS MAJORLY F’d up, IRRESPONSIBLE, AND CARELESS FOR BOTH YOUR PET, FINANCIAL SITUATION AND YOUR HOME.
Elizabeth FMemberThank you so much for taking the time for you personally to share such a nice info. I definitely enjoying every little bit of it. It is a great help topic.

Crystal PMemberI know this is a somewhat old post, but there is a food out that claims to be allergen free. Sportdogfood. I’ve recommended it and tried it aswell and it cleared allergies right on up. It’s also 5 stars and no recalls. The elite series.
Marie PMemberI have had great luck with the NuVET Plus daily supplement and also Avoderm Dog food. WE are using the lamb Avoderm food for our seniors and allergy prone pooches..
Avoderm is easy to digest and high quality, See here http://amzn.to/2nmXqY6
NuVET Skin-Coat and Allergy supplement for dogs, see here http://www.nuvet.com/81098 ( Give 1 per day long term as it will strengthen the immune system and help fight off allergens ) If you use order code 81098 they give a 60-day money back guarantee and 15 % off the auto ship program. we get ours every 90 days on auto ship.
Adele MMember“I am absolutely abhorred by Nuvet. For one I am so figusted by their lack of ethics. Would you look at all these paid/ employee / repeated reviews. Their blog reputation is a sham.”
Really? Well, I’m here to tell you that the testamonials are NOT “paid/employee/repeated”. I’ve written two myself. If you want to read one, you can go here: https://www.nuvet.com/testimonials.html and the subject is “See the difference?”
The day I was adopted I wasn’t a NuVet dog, but I am now! See the difference?
I still take a NuVet Plus and NuJoint tab EVERY DAY so I can look AND feel great!

Bill NMemberHello…I just bought a pure breed puppy with the “NuVet Requirement” clause to keep from having the health guarantee voided. My Vet (whom I have been using for 4 years for my Lab/Shepherd mix. My dog was hit by a car and facing possible amputation of his front leg but my Vet saved it..He is a good and trusted no-nonsense vet) He does not recommend this or any other pet supplement. He said the science just isn’t there and told me to tell my Breeder that my Vet recommended NOT using the product and leave it there. He said if it voids the health guarantee then let it be voided as he will guarantee the product is not necessary or helpful . Needless to say I am going with my Vet’s recommendation (whom I have been going to for over 5 years in total with all my pets) instead of the Breeder’s recommendation (whom I just met and only seen once)
- This reply was modified 7 years, 4 months ago by Bill N.
anonymousMember@ Bill N
I agree, and I doubt if that clause is legally binding. Why argue with them though, just store the stuff in your pantry and throw one away everyday, it will probably have the same effect, lol. Tell the breeder everything is going well 😉Bill NMember@anon101
The only problem with that idea is that they only sent a 3 day supply and the reorder information with the pup. They even gave me the web address and product number to make “reordering easier” for me. I am not going to say anything about reordering or not reordering..Just let them think what they want (unless they ask of course)Barry CMemberQuestion: Why are the only anonymous posts negative about Nuvet? Virtually all reviews from the major review sites suggest it works. And then only negative comments here are from some anonymous user with real links going to a quack vet site? What is that all about? Who is the shill?
- This reply was modified 7 years, 3 months ago by Barry C.
anonymousMemberJust because you don’t believe in science based medicine, you don’t have to attack those that do. Most supplements are scams and most people that have medical backgrounds know that, they just have to read the ingredients and the disclaimer on the bottle to confirm.
Homeopathic views are very different than traditional medicine. If that’s what you choose to believe. Good luck.
aimeeParticipantHi Barry C,
Anon isn’t the only negative review see Cannoli’s post. I also not a fan of NuVet. I don’t see that it would harm … just don’t see that would do any good when added to a complete and balanced diet. Maybe things have changed since I last inquired, but the company would not provide me with a nutrient analysis of the product. This is always a red flag for me. Can they not provide it because they don’t know? And if they don’t routinely test their product to be able to provide a average nutrient analysis what else aren’t they testing?Mainly I see it as a supplement for people …. it supplements their income when they get others to buy it: )
