WE recently rescued a puppy – approx 4 months old. She definely has some German Short haired pointer in her and something else (she is weighs all of 12 lbs) I used this site to find decent dry puppy food – Merrick back country raw infused puppy recipe. i give her about 2/3 cup in morning – barely eats it unless i put some treats in. Diner time she gobbles down 1 cup. She is very active. Should i find a food she likes better or is it normal for small puppies not to eat in the morning?

anonymouslyMemberYou might want to consider a DNA test, my vet told me Wisdom Panel was good http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CAVM9SI/ref=s9_dcbhz_bw_d0_g199_i1_sh
Twelve pounds at 4 months sounds kind of light for a large breed… a veterinarian that examines the dog might be able to tell you the approximate age of the dog.
Most puppies eat 3 small meals per day. Then taper to 1 or 2 meals per day by 7-8 months.
You may find some helpful tips under General Guidelines http://www.homeovet.net/dynamic/php/downloads/dog-c8470f2c75dbe4b683205c3919ee2310/dog_diet_complete.pdf

anonymouslyMemberPS: Those amounts (that you are feeding) sound like a lot for a 12 pound dog? You may want to try smaller meals divided up, 3 times per day. Add water, sometimes that is more important than the food.
