I am trying to put weight in my two year old mutt. She is thin and always has been. I hate HATE seeing her ribs and her spine. She is about 60-65lbs and needs to gain at least 5 lbs and would probably do okay with 10lbs. She’s very active and unfortunately, a very picky eater. I am going to start feeding her all RAW but I’m pregnant and can’t stomach the raw food right now.

Can anyone recommend a high quality kibble for a highly active dog??

    Thank you very much!!

My 9 year old Yorkie was having problems maintaing her weight so I checked out Dog Food Advisor and based on info there decided to give Natures Instinct Ultimate Protein (chicken) a try. Her weight is back up and is maintaining well.

Dr. Tim’s Pursuit Active Dog Formula Dry Dog Food or Orijens Puppy Formula.

The standard is when the loss exceeds ten percent of normal body weight (and when it is not due to fluid loss).

    ALSO CHECK FOR:
Fecal studies to look for chronic intestinal parasites
Complete blood count (CBC) to look for infection, inflammation, leukemia, anemia, and other blood disorders
A biochemical profile that will evaluate kidney, liver, and pancreas function, and the status of blood proteins, blood sugar, and electrolytes
