My 13 year old lab mix was ill with nausea, vomitting and diarrhea 2 weeks ago. The vet did a urinalysis as part of her work up and discovered protein in her urine (+2). She suggested we recheck in 2-4 weeks and today the urinalysis came back with protein again. They are sending the specimen out to the lab for further testing. I know they will probably recommend a prescription diet which I would like to avoid. My girl is a picky eater during the best of times and has been very fussy since this episode began. Any suggestions about appropriate foods (I would not be opposed to making her food). I would like to educate myself before speaking with the vet. She does have issues with eggs and fish.
crazy4catsParticipantHi Laura L-
Here is a website that was created by veterinary nutritionists:
https://secure.balanceit.com/
It has two sides, one for pet owners and one for vets working with pet owners. You can formulate your own recipes and they sell supplements to make them complete and balanced. Check it out if you are interested in making your pups’s food.Good luck!
