Supercan Recalls One Lot of Its Pig Ears Slivers Due to Salmonella Contamination 

April 8th, 2025 – Supercan is recalling a lot of its Bully Sticks Pig Ears Slivers – Thick Cut Piggy Ear Slices pet treats due to Salmonella contamination. The company recalled the single lot on April 1st, 2025 following sample-testing by the Washington State Department of Agriculture, which confirmed a positive test for Salmonella.

What was recalled?

Expiration date: 11/09/2026

Supercan Bulk of Miami, Florida has recalled a single lot of its Bully Sticks Pig Ears Slivers – Thick Cut Piggy Ear Slices in 500 piece bags, 15.9 oz. The affected product has an expiration date of November 9th, 2026. The recalled lot was distributed on April 11th, 2024 in the North 40 Outfitters store in Spokane, Washington State. At the time of writing, no illnesses have been reported. 

Supercan Bulk will safely proceed to dispose of affected products under the FDA’s instructions.

What to do?

Consumers who have purchased this product are urged to return it to the place of purchase or destroy the food in a way that children, pets, and wildlife cannot access. 

Do not sell or donate the recalled products. Do not feed the recalled product to pets or any other animals. Wash and sanitize pet food bowls, cups, and storage containers.

Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.

Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.

This recall is being made with the knowledge of the Food and Drug Administration.

The FDA encourages consumers to report complaints about pet food products electronically through the Safety Reporting Portal. Additionally, consumers can visit the SmartHub – Safety Intake Portal – Report a Product Problem (fda.gov) to obtain electronic assistance with submitting a report.
