September 3 2023 – One lot of Victor Super Premium Dog Food, Hi-Pro Plus has been recalled due to potential salmonella contamination.
What was recalled?
The food was produced at the Mid America Pet Food facility in Mount Pleasant, Texas, and distributed to various retailers in the United States.
The lot affected consists of 644 cases with lot code 1000016385 and Best By Date 4/30/2024. The lot code information can be found on the back of the bag.
The affected product was only sold in 5-pound bags. No human or pet illnesses have been reported to date.
What to do?
This voluntary recall is being issued due to a single sample of Victor Super Premium Dog Food that tested positive for salmonella, in a random sample test conducted by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture.
Retailers and distributors should immediately pull the recalled lot from their inventory and shelves. Do not sell or donate the recalled products.
Consumers should not feed the recalled product to pets or other animals. Destroy the food in a way that children, pets and wildlife cannot access. Wash and sanitize pet food bowls, cups and storage containers. Always ensure you wash and sanitize your hands after handling recalled food or any utensils that come in contact with recalled food.
Salmonella can affect both human and animal health. People with symptoms of salmonella infection should consult their healthcare provider. Consult a veterinarian if your pet has symptoms of salmonella infection.
