Blue Heelers, also known as Australian Cattle Dogs, are a medium-sized working breed that requires a substantial amount of protein to support their high energy levels, along with a balanced mix of carbohydrates and healthy fats.
When selecting food for your Blue Heeler, choose an option that supports their common health issues. Eg:
- Hip dysplasia – recipes that contain glucosamine and chondroitin to support joint health and mobility.
- Eye defects – antioxidant-rich foods, such as carrots and sweet potatoes, help protect cells.
- Eczema – novel protein foods like rabbit, duck, venison or fish can help manage food allergies and sensitivities by providing a protein source that the dog’s immune system hasn’t previously encountered.
Remember, if you have any specific concerns or questions about your Blue Heelers’ diet, seek advice from your veterinarian.
Below, you can see our recommendations of the best foods for Blue Heelers, which we hope will help you find the right food for your pet.

"Weruva Joint Health canned food does not look like your typical dog food. My dogs were going crazy waiting for me to get their breakfast ready. I love feeding them items that are better for them, without having to spend hours making it every week. One of them finished theirs and tried to take some from another dog. I would call that a winner and if it helps their joints even better."

"I had to switch my dogs off of their grain-free diet due to the stomach issues it was causing. I wanted a food made in the US, included grains, reasonably priced and a brand that had a mature formula for older dogs. They are almost through their first bag of this and I am happy with the results. This food is cheaper per pound than the food they were on, they eat less of this food to maintain their weight and they finally have their appetites back. I plan on putting my Corgi on the mature formula soon due to her hip issues. Great food for a great value."
